The Grand Hotel & The John Burton-Race, Restaurant with Rooms is the perfect place for a family holiday, with so many attractions in and around the English Riviera.

There are plenty of local attractions including Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts, Babbacombe Model Village, Greenway House (once home to Agatha Christie), two steam railways and much more, in addition to the 22 miles of coastline with gloriously sandy beaches.  The nearest beach is directly opposite the hotels and is perfect for swimming, sandcastle building and rock pool exploring!

The Camel Estuary, Padstow

The Camel Trail is 18 miles long and a very flat multi-use trail which provides access to the beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow.

The trail is popular for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders and falls into three main sections:

  • Padstow to Wadebridge – 5.5 Miles (8.8Km)
  • Wadebridge to Bodmin (Boscarne) – 5.75 Miles (9.25Km)
  • Bodmin to Wenfordbridge – 6.25 Miles (10.1 Km)

Many guests that stay at the Metropole Hotel use it as a base to explore the Camel Trails outstanding natural beauty. With access to the trail on its doorstep, there really isn’t a better place to stay in Cornwall.
